Take the Rosanna Road exit, past the golf course, toward the train line that divides the suburb.
Rosanna has two speeds: the quiet streets behind the station, and the bustle of the shopping strip where everyone knows everyone. The houses are mixed — weatherboards from the 1950s, brick veneers, newer townhouses tucked into former orchard blocks.
We delivered to a house near the Rosanna station last month. The note said: "For Mum, from the train." The daughter had just moved to the city for work. Every morning she catches the train from Rosanna, but that morning she left flowers instead. The mother opened the door in her dressing gown, confused, then saw the note. "She used to hold my hand on the platform," she told us. "Now she sends flowers."
That's Rosanna. Connections that don't break, just change form.
Another regular stop: a street near the Banyule Flats reserve. A widower orders every month for himself. "I walk by the river," he said once. "I like coming home to something." We leave the arrangement on the kitchen table, visible from the back door where he comes in from his walk.
Rosanna moves to the rhythm of trains and river paths. Flowers are part of both journeys.
