We delivered to a house near Forest Hill Chase last month. The note read: “For Mum, from Sarah.” The daughter had moved to Sydney years ago. “I used to walk to the shops with her every Saturday,” she wrote. “Now I can’t. But she can still get flowers.”

There’s also the jewellery store inside Forest Hill Chase. The owner’s husband orders every year for her birthday — elegant, restrained, never flashy. During major occasions they order for customers too, arrangements that sit beside velvet boxes before opening hours.
Another regular: a man orders annually for his sister, who still lives in the house they grew up in. “She never left,” he said. “I did. But I remember the address.” We deliver to the same porch each year.
